Jack’s New Room

I had been told by more than one person to move Jack into his new room before the new baby arrives so he doesn’t feel like the baby took his room.  He never tried to get out of his crib, so the thought of moving him out of that into a bed where he can get up and move around the house was a bit scary, but we decided to go ahead and move him so we could get the nursery ready for new baby and get Jack settled into his new space.

Chris and I took a one-day trip down to Frisco, TX to Ikea.  I really love that store. It’s probably a good thing we don’t have one here- I would want to shop there all the time! I’m amazed by their ideas and room set ups.  And such great prices!

We had looked online and thought we had a pretty good idea of what we wanted so we could get in and get out pretty quickly.  Ha!  Of course we had to walk through the entire store and look at everything. And once we figured out what we wanted, there were so many different configurations, it took forever to figure out exactly what would fit and what we needed.  We were there for at least 3 hours!  We had thought we might have time to go to a few more stores in the area, but I don’t even know why we thought that.  A full day shopping at Ikea is exhausting and we still had to drive back 3.5 hours back to OKC.

In the end, we ended up with an awesome bed that is pretty low for now, then when he gets bigger, we flip it upside down and it’s a bunk bed with room below for a mattress or play area- we thought that would be fun for the 2 boys in a couple of years.  We also got 2 storage units for toys, and 1 more for clothes.  We got some shelves to store books, an awesome magnet board for his artwork and some bright bedding.

He loves his new bed!

The transition was pretty easy.  He has been sleeping through the night in his new room and big boy bed.  Getting him to fall asleep in there is a bit of a struggle some night, but it always has been with him so we’re just working through it.

He loves his room! He has figured out it’s his and loves to go in there to play.  He’s getting to be such a big boy!
