Hard to believe that we have a foot of snow right now, but just one week ago, it was sunny and in the 70s! I took Friday afternoon off and took Jack to the zoo. He is so much fun at the zoo right now because he loves animals, he can recognize them, and he loves to tell you all about them. Giraffes and elephants are his favorites- he can’t say elephant, but he can hold his arm up like a trunk and say “brrrrrr!” He also says “ooh ooh ahh” when he sees a monkey. He made all these sounds, and was adorable. He was very well behaved, and I really enjoyed our day at the zoo. I can’t wait for more nice days to take him back!
We didn’t get there until about 2:30, so we only did half of the zoo- rhinos, Great EscAPE, zebras, giraffes, buffalo, etc. We finished the day by playing at the Jungle Gym, which he LOVED! The little toys are the perfect size for him so he could climb and slide all by himself. He is fearless!
The apes and orangutans were very playful. They were running all over the place playing, and were right by the glass. Jack was so excited! He ran up to the glass, waved, said “hi! Ooh ooh ahh ahh!” It was hilarious!
The elephants are getting a new exhibit that opens this spring, so they aren’t out on display until it opens up. We saw lots of elephants on signs though, and Jack was so excited when we found this elephant statue! He ran around it, talked to it, made a trunk and said “Brrrrrrr!” Then he waved to it and said bye when it was time to go. He’s so sweet.
His other favorite- giraffes. We made the big loop to see them, and he was so excited- he sat up in his stroller, pointed, and yelled “raff!”. There is an ostrich in there too, and he was along the fence, and like to poke his beak through and gnaw on the fence. Jack of course thought this was hilarious. He really hugged and loved on this giraffe statue. And of course waved and told it “bye” when we walked off.
After all this fun, we finally made it to the Jungle Gym for some playtime. First we had to stop at the empty cooler storage- Jack was fascinated with the stairs and the cubbies and enjoyed running up and down the rows. I think he had as much fun there as he did anywhere else! I finally got him over to the playground and the real fun started. Slides, swings, playhouses- all his size- and he had a blast running all over the place.
