Christmas is in 2 days! For a while there, it didn’t really feel like the holiday season. Maybe because it’s been a pretty warm fall here. It was 75 degrees on Monday! But I think the real reason is the older we get, there more there is to do at the holidays. There are more gifts to buy, more to wrap, more to cook, more to decorate, etc, and less to do it with- less time, less money, less inspiration. But, really, that’s not what the season is about. It’s a time to love and share, and to be merry! People are (theoretically) nicer, it feels good to give to our friends, family and those in need, there are yummy treats all over the place. So, I dug down deep and found some Christmas cheer. Now that it’s almost here, I can’t wait. I’ve got Christmas carols playing, the tree is up, the stockings are hung and the presents are slowly making their way under the tree.
Besides all that- we’ve got a little 18 month old boy who is old enough to start getting Christmas! We’re going to do it up right and make sure he knows the wonder and amazement that all kids should feel at Christmas. He LOVES the tree- I continually find ornaments all over the house that he has taken down. He LOVES lights- on the tree or on houses- the glow always elicits an “oh wow” from Jack. He met Santa and stared at him in awe. He didn’t cry, nor did he smile for us- he just stared up at Santa and that white beard.
I can’t wait to see his reaction Saturday morning when he wakes up to see what Santa has brought. It’s going to be so much fun. Here’s to wishing you and yours a Merry Christmas!
