Set the Date!

Our wedding date is set!  We’ve decided on August 25th.  We’ll have the wedding and reception at Tres Suenos Winery/Vineyard in Luther, OK. It’s about 45 minutes NE of Oklahoma City.

 We went to visit on Saturday to see what we thought, and despite the cold, gray, wet and muddy day- we loved it!  It’s going to be beautiful in August- when everything is in bloom.  It’s right in the middle of their harvest, so it’s going to be green and just lovely.

Tres Suenos has an “events center” which is perfect for the reception.  The ceremony will take place just out the south doors of the center.  There’s a great bank of trees that form a natural aisle and natural rows for the chairs.  It’s just the perfect setting for a wedding- they even have all the tables and chairs we could need!

The reception will follow.  The events center is pretty- there are great murals painted on the walls, plenty of room for tables, and a loft area upstairs.  The food, cake, etc will be set up in the events center.  It’s not quite big enough to hold all of our guests, so we’ll have tables spilling outside.  We’ll actually have our dancefloor and DJ outside under a tent, so it’s going to work out great!  I’m thinking of setting up “clusters” of chairs in the loft to create seating space if anyone wants to sit and chat.  And, since Tres Suenos grows their own grapes and makes their own wine, we’ll have fabulous wine!  They have a bar that will be open for service so our guests can enjoy really wine at the reception.

Chris and I are really excited- it’s going to be beautiful and we know everyone will have a great time.  Since it’s August and outside, it will be HOT!   We definitely want this to be a casual affair- to reflect our laid back lifestyles, and also the atmosphere of the event.  We’re promoting this as a casual wedding- no suits please!  

 We’re staring to get excited about the planning.  We’ve decided on pink and chocolate brown as colors.  We’ve selected our wedding party.  Our next steps are save the date cards, selecting a caterer and cake designer, engagement photos, and invitations.  There’s so much to do- but I love it!  It’s so much fun!
